I use gloves for pack bait, stink bait, livers etc. Any cheap disposable works just fine but good nitrile ones are awesome 👍

I was doing it wrong for a little while, then I got taught how to properly throw it like a ballerina, had it down after 10 tries on a 4ft cast net. Perfect twirling circle. At the end of the day, regardless of what method you use to repair your rod,you will lose some action at.that point t but it is negligible compared to what you don't. The real skill of using a rod and reel as a tool to catch fish, is that the user of the tool must have some skill and would know how to compensate for the change in action. Bottom line is that you still have a rod that can be used to catch fish all dayblong. Also, whoever was the idiot who broke that ugly stick, should never be fishing in the first place. Buy a cheap.rod and learn how to fish for a few years before buying expensive gear, it does not make you a fisherman or a better one.

Not on topic, but I recommend one of the bait-casting reels off of Pisifun. It’s the Chaos XS, I have the 50 size and it’s just a good size for large catfish, and has a featured bait clicker.

You need to check your local and state fishing regulations on using a cast net. I was fishing with a pole and down the bank some guy was net fishing he got a 250 dollar fine for illegal fishing. Not sure if it was because of the fish he had or specific violation of how he was fishing.
